Traveling by Burqa, Afghanistan
Daily life, traveling through the villages and towns of southern Afghanistan, viewed through a burqa. These images represent the vista of Afghan women, who are often required to wear a burqa when outside their homes.
In August 2021, the Taliban reclaimed Afghanistan, bringing an uncertain future for the country, especially for women and girls. The last time the Taliban were in power, they barred females from taking most jobs or attending school, and many women had to resort to begging to provide for their families. Today, their future remains uncertain.
